When we first spotted the Y2K fashion comeback, our hearts fluttered. Call it nostalgia, but there's something about platform shoes, cargo pants, and baguette bags, that we can't get enough of. That being said, we're less sweet on the more questionable fashion trends of the aughts, namely, low-rise jeans, bubble skirts, and (you guessed it) wearing jeans-over-pants.

When it comes to this last layered look, we have to wonder whether some trends are better left in the past. Sure, jeans-over-pants was a mainstay on red carpets in the 2000s, with our favorite Disney stars sporting the look, but isn't bringing it back today going a step too far? We thought so until dresses over pants started making a comeback on the runway and in the outfit rotation of some of our favorite celebrities. However, this 2.0 version is subtle, chic, and practically unrecognizable from its predecessor (and we mean that in the best way possible)—which makes it worth trying out.
