Jodie Turner Smith on Joshua Jackson Dating Lupita Nyong'o

Jodie Turner-Smith is wishing her ex-husband Joshua Jackson and his new girlfriend Lupita Nyong'o all the best. In a new interview with The Cut published on Friday, the actress—who shares a 4-year-old daughter with Jackson named Juno—opened up about her ex's budding romance with Nyong'o and how it affects their co-parenting relationship.

“Good for them,” she said when asked about Jackson moving on with Nyong'o two months following their split. “We need happiness in order to peacefully co-parent." She then jokingly added, "I’m trying to get us to the Gwyneth and Chris Martin level."

Turner-Smith continued, "I truly hope they’re happy and that it benefits us as a family. I just have to do everything that I can to set Juno up to win and to peacefully co-parent with someone whom I once loved very, very much.”

Back in October 2023, Turner-Smith filed for divorce from Jackson after three years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. Just three weeks later, the Dawson's Creek alum was spotted at a concert with Nyong'o, and by December, they confirmed they were a couple while holding hands in Joshua Tree, California. Most recently, they were spotted packing on the PDA on the beach during Nyong'o's birthday trip to Mexico in March.

Earlier this year, Turner-Smith spoke about her separation from Jackson for the first time during an interview with The Sunday Times, revealing that it was the "healthiest" decision for her and her family. “Sometimes, things we really want to work just don’t end up working,” she said. “And that’s OK. The most important thing is that you choose what’s healthiest for you and your family and definitely your children.”

She continued, "The bravest thing in the world is to recognize when something’s not working and to make a move, and I always want to set that kind of example for my daughter. The big takeaway is that this is about just as much love and joy as it has always been. This is only about taking a step forward into a better life for everybody involved.”
