Sophia Bush Debuts Red Hair For the Fourth of July

Sophia Bush just debuted a brand new hair style in honor of the Fourth of July—the former One Tree Hill star has really stuck to the Independence Day theme by going red!

In a new Instagram post, the actress showed off her newly dyed locks, which have gone from her usual dark brunette to a soft auburn. "We decided to put the RED in 'red white and blue' this year ♥️” she wrote in the caption, tagging her stylist, Nikki Lee.

Bush also posted a TikTok in honor of her hair transformation, in which she lip synced to an audio that said, "Imagine the day the see you again, and you're just, well, better," as she cut to a clip of her sporting her new copper locks.

Although Bush has been rocking brown hair for a few years, this isn't the first time she's gone red. Back in 2008, she dyed her hair red before shooting the film The Narrows. She later said to Refinery29, "I was just having a good time with it. I love playing with hair colour. If you can’t have a little bit of fun, I don’t know what you’re doing." Evidently, she's still up for having a little fun.

Bush came out as queer in an essay for Glamour earlier this year. “I finally feel like I can breathe," she wrote. "I don’t think I can explain how profound that is. I feel like I was wearing a weighted vest for who knows how long. I hadn’t realized how heavy it was until I finally just put it down."

Days later, she made her red carpet debut with her partner, soccer player Ashlyn Harris at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C. where the pair wore matching all-black outfits.

More recently, her old co-star and ex, Chad Michael Murrary, has spoken up about their short-lived romancethe pair were married for just five months in 2005. "I was a baby. I didn't know up, down, left, right," Murray told The Cut of the relationship. Bush has also previously spoken up about the marriage. "Everybody's been 22 and stupid," she said to Andy Cohen. "People won't let it go. Can you imagine if the idiot you dated when you were a senior in high school—if people still would not stop talking to you about?"

Bush is currently in production for the upcoming film The Stranger in My Home.
